International Women's Day & 9th Year Anniversary Celebration of WiLAT Sri Lanka
WiLAT Sri Lanka organized a beautiful event to mark the International Women's Day Celebration and the 9th Year Anniversary Celebration at the Cinnamon Lakeside Hotel on 8th of March 2022. In line up to the event WiLAT Sri Lanka carried out a very impactful IWD campaign portraying many ways in which we can #BreakTheBias to build an inclusive and diverse world.
Event Chair and Vice Chairperson - Branding & Sponsorship for WiLAT SL Amra Zareer mentioned the importance of creating an environment for Real Talent to Thrive across the industry, society and communities. She further stated that WiLAT has always focused on empowering talent and this year we collectively pledged to #BreakTheBias and create space to nurture, grow and empower talent.
WiLAT Sri Lanka Chairperson Niroza Gazzali spoke on how the Logistics industry played a pivotal role during the pandemic in helping us to keep our world intact and moving. She further stated via disruption and challenges we found best ways and used technology and innovation to meet the evolving needs of everyone in the planet.
Further Gayani De Alwis FCILT, WiLAT Global Chairperson commented that together with CILT we have made a significant contribution to the industry. WiLAT is now present in 34 countries with a membership of over 3000 members. Gayani also mentioned that WiLAT framework is built on the 4 strategic thrusts, namely, mentorship, entrepreneurship, empowerment and leadership.
WiLAT Sri Lanka also extended their heartfelt appreciation to CILT International President Paul Sainthouse FCILT for sending his congratulatory message.
Sulochana Dissanayake Founder of Power of Play performed an impactful performance highlighting how the world of work should eliminate biases from our society and in our work places.
The event was supported by the President CILT SL Channaka De Alwis and members of the CILT Council. WiLAT Exco was instrumental in putting up this event together.
