Women Can Make a Difference: Strengthening Logistics and Supply Chains with Values, Skills, and Purpose: By: Dr Nor Fyadzillah Mohd Taha CMILT

In today’s fast-changing global environment, logistics and supply chains are vital to economic resilience, national security, and sustainable development. Women play an increasingly critical role in this ecosystem, not only supporting operations but actively shaping leadership, innovation, and outcomes.

Women bring distinctive strengths to logistics and supply chain roles, including patient and purpose-driven leadership, strong critical thinking, thoughtful decision-making, and effective communication across diverse stakeholders. Their detail-oriented, process-driven approach enhances accuracy, compliance, and risk management, while their multitasking abilities enable them to manage complex operational environments effectively.

As the industry advances towards digitalisation and Industry 4.0, women are actively contributing to technology adoption and digital readiness, ensuring that transformation is guided by ethical and humane leadership. They also naturally champion sustainability, ethics, and responsible logistics, aligning operational efficiency with social and environmental responsibility.

Beyond technical skills, women contribute strong values such as integrity, resilience, compassion, discipline, and result orientation, transforming logistics into a strategic and trusted function. WiLAT Malaysia plays a key role in empowering women through leadership development, networking, mentoring, and industry engagement.

Overall, women are indispensable to the future of logistics and supply chain excellence. When women are empowered and lead, organisations perform better, supply chains become more resilient and ethical, and nations grow stronger.
