Ignite, Mentor Mentee Meet Up (14.01.2020)



Women in Logistics, WiLAT SL has held their first mentor-mentee meet up on 14th January at the auditorium of National Chamber of Commerce, Sri Lanka. The event was organized as a part of their flagship event, Ignite 6, a mentoring program for young logisticians.

This event provided a platform for the registered mentoring students and graduates to interact with their mentors and build up a conversation.

Ms. Gayathri Karunanayaka, the chairperson of WiLAT SL welcomed the mentoring community to the event and emphasized the importance of mentoring in current terms. Mr. Niroshan De Silva, the Chief Executive Officer of Retail Hameeedia Group addressed the gathering with an energizing guest speech. He reiterated the fact that youngsters joining the workforce need to be equipped with self-confidence and quick thinking. Mr. Ravindu Yapa, an undergraduate of University of Sri Jayawardenapura and a mentee in Ignite 6 entertained the crowd with a mashup of classical music. Mentors and mentees then spent some quality time getting to know each other and building up conversation to pave way for their mentoring journey.

The event was graced by below mentors who are registered for Ignite 6: Ms. Gayani de Alwis, chairperson of CILT, SL, Dr. Priyangani Jayasundara, Dr. Renuka Herath, Ms. Anoma Ranasinghe, Mr. Ravi Edirisinghe, Ms. Anushka Weeraratne, Ms. Niroza Gazzali, Mr. Chaminda Perera, Ms. Dhashma Karunaratne, Mr. Sathiyenthra Panchadcharam, Ms. Amra Zareer, Mr. Chanaka Gunathilake, Mr. Nevil Fernando, Ms. Dilmini Bandula Weragama & Mr. Mahesh Kurukulasuriya. Ms. Maithree Attanayaka, the event chair and Vice Chairperson - Membership Development of WiLAT SL thanked the gathering for their support and commitment for Ignite 6.
